The environments in which Jeni Lee has lived and traveled have become the foundation of who she is as a painter. Her work captures the ways in which people experience their surroundings, the forest, the sea, and the desert, paths both dreamed and taken. With many sweeps of pastels and marks of crayons, color washes and paint glazes, she continually layers and works the surface, always pursuing the unexpected adventure in both methods and materials. As she paints, Jeni includes elements that draw the viewer closer, such as historical and personal writings and shadows created by raindrops. Jeni received her BA in Painting from Portland State University. Her process of painting invites both chance and intention, resulting in an engaging representation of beauty and transformation. She has attended artist residencies in Vermont, New Mexico and Bend, Oregon. She currently resides in Portland, Oregon and works daily out of her colorful art studio. Her work is represented in many corporate and private collections nationwide, including healthcare and hospitality facilities.
