Zhen-Huan Lu (Born 1950) is a Shanghai China-born realist painter. He focuses on capturing the beauty of his subjects on canvas using the most fitting texture and detail. Zhen-Huan Lu creates works whose compositions capture light and shadows, creating moods that give viewers beautiful and peaceful scenes. He has made paintings of seascapes, capturing the sky and boats. Zhen-Huan Lu has also captured other subjects, including home interiors. He attained a degree in scenic design from Shanghai Theater Academy. He eventually rose to become an assistant professor at the academy. Owing to the quality and the content of his works, they’ve been exhibited in a variety of places across China and are also displayed in China National Art Museum.

Zhen-Huan Lu launched his art career big time by organizing a solo show in 1986 in New York City. He later moved to Georgia where he produces his high quality artwork, prints, and posters. Having built a name for himself, he was commissioned to paint the official White House Christmas Card in 2002. The original painting he made was added to the White House permanent collection. The first edition of the artwork was given by President Bush to Chinese President Jiang when he visited. Most of his oil paintings capture the Western style landscapes that are delivered in poetic realism. Although his paintings never have human figures, they are meant to portray a picture of human lives and their emotions.

“If paintings could be tasted, I would want my paintings to taste like a cup of Chinese tea. Unlike the overwhelmingly strong taste of coffee, the flavors of tea are subtle and complex, inviting you to sip and leaving you with a pleasant, long-lasting aftertaste.” Zhen-Huan Lu.
