Kim Levin is an artist from America. She also writes and is an art critic. She contributed to The Village Voice regularly from 1982 to 2006. For the last 10 years, she has been regularly contributing to ArtNews. From 1973-1977 Kim worked as a correspondent to Opus International. And from 1980 to1994, she worked at Flash Art as a correspondent. From 1973 to 1992, the artist also worked as a contributing editor for Arts Magazine. She has also contributed to many publications some of which include Artstudio, Parkett, VOIR and Sculpture, among others. Kim’s essays are also in exhibition catalogues and books. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vassar College and a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University in Egyptian Archaeology, Department of Architecture and Art History. Kim continued her Doctorate of Philosophy course work at the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University.
She has lectured in the United States and internationally at: The New School for Social Research, the Guggenheim Museum, Brown University, the Cincinnati Center of Contemporary Art, Barnard College, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the São Paulo Art Biennial, the California Institute of the Arts, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, and other institutions. She was the treasurer of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA-USA) from 1982 to 1984. She served as the vice president of the association fro 1984 to 1990 and as the president from 1990 to 1992. In 1991, she became the vice president of the International Association of Art Critics International and in 1996, she became the President and she served in that capacity for two terms, up to 2002.
