Patrick St. Germain graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts from Concordia University. He was born in Montreal, Quebec. His interest in art began at an early age during a visit to Museum of Modern Art in New York City and soon afterward, he began maturing his talent on canvas. He’s always versatile and ready for new experiences. His paintings were inspired by the works of Francis Bacon and Jean Michel Basquiat. They were predominantly urban abstract. Wanting to learn more, St. Germain backpacked and went on climbing expeditions in various National Parks in Canada. This motivated his developing style of landscape painting. His work has been seen in several solo and group shows, and can be seen in some of the most respected galleries in Canada and beyond. St.
Germain is careful not to claim a particular style of painting or influence. Rather, it’s his hope that his viewers can have an open mind and avoid formed opinions. He doesn’t limit himself to one subject alone. He varies his subjects to increase the collectability of his art. At any moment he can be seen painting anything that inspired him. Using a great depth of field in his work, he conveys a sense of tranquility and solitude by isolating the viewer from the background. He reinforces this through the use of watercolor techniques in the background and impasto in the foreground. The popularity of his art is due to the fact that they can be used to decorate any space.
