Maria Donovan was brought up in Bridport, Dorset and lived in Holland for several years. She’s a multi-talented artist whose work has appeared in many publications. Maria is an artist, a dancer, a writer and a story teller. She’s also worked as a gardener, a nurse, and a magician's assistant. Currently, she’s a lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Glamorgan, where she has recently completed a Masters of Philosophy in Writing. Just from a young age, Maria knew that she would become an artist. Most of her free time was occupied by doing artwork. Luckily, she spent her childhood surrounded by many art-loving friends who noticed her talent and encouraged her to pursue her interest in art. What started out as a hobby has grown to advanced levels of art, including painting, dancing, writing, etc. Maria brings many innovative and textured mediums to mix with her great sense of light, spacing, and color.
Her talent coupled with her passion has allowed her to obtain the unique look on her artwork. Maria is a great designer with unique insight to diverse multi-layering of objects, colors and textures. Her short stories have appeared in New Welsh Review, Mslexia and the Honno anthology - My Cheating Heart. A collection of her short stories, “Tea for Mr. Dead” was published in 2006, and is available from Leaf Books. Maria’s first collection of longer stories was published by Seren in 2007. Her art are now much sort after by many private collectors and galleries throughout the world.
