Jennifer Rasmusson attended Dundas Valley School of Arts, Ontario, Canada, and Lyme Academy of Fine Art, Old Lyme, Connecticut. She began her studies in Salt Lake City Utah at Salt Lake Community College. Jennifer was born in Provo, Utah and currently, she lives in Southern Utah. She believes that painting is a conversation. Her painterly, textural works examine the dynamic relationship that artists develop with certain subjects. Her works also examine the ever-changing relationships in life. At a time, Jennifer may find herself working on a body of five or more paintings. To complete them within the shortest time possible, she begins with quick layers of acrylic paint which allows her to build up texture. Next she draws with charcoal or oil pastel, however these marks will not be the final drawing in some of her pieces, she applies a plaster coat, and then scratches back and paints over again. The first layers can always be seen somewhere in the finished work.

Her favorite part is when applying the oil painting layer. This luminous color and rich creamy texture begins to tell the real story. Jennifer says that she and the canvas understand each other and are better for the conversation they’ve had. She has exhibited at Springville Museum of Art, Utah Museum of Fine Arts, Fairfield Museum of Art, Rose Wagner Art Gallery, Braithwaite Gallery, Phillips Gallery, Gastronomy Inc., Salt Lake City, and many others. Her art is found in collections of Fairview Museum of Art, Fairview, Salt Lake International Airport, Salt Lake City, Southern Utah University, Cedar City, ATK Thiokol, Gastronomy Inc., Salt Lake City, etc.
