South Africa-born artist Marina Louw was raised in the beautiful country near National Kruger Park in South Africa. The passion to capture the beautiful things she saw was with her from a very early age. Because she loved art from such a tender age, she needed no exterior art influence to spark the artistic flame within. Marina received a diploma in Fashion Design and studied literature for two years at university. After her graduation, she worked as a fashion designer for some time before she decided to follow her passion to become a self-taught artist. The artist prefers to create her astonishingly attractive images using acrylic paints. She says that they are as impatient as she is, and also full of surprises and very spontaneous. Indeed, Marina describes her works as expressive, moody, and even spontaneous.

She still lives and works in South Africa, and she donates her paintings for auction to a variety of charities every year, including Noah Aids House, Cat Pal Society, and Boys & Girls Town. While her art is inspired by the everyday world that surrounds her, Marina’s previous career as a fashion designer has greatly influenced her art, and this has inspired her to bring the textures and patterns of textiles into her paintings. She believes that it’s through art that she can communicate her inner feelings to her viewers. Looking at her art today, it’s difficult to believe that she’s a self-taught artist. Her art has found its way into many galleries, institutions and homes.
