Michael Mullan is an illustrator, surface designer, and a hand lettering artist who was born outside Chicago but is currently a resident of Vermont where he's a full time freelance illustrator. His passion for art saw him start learning art making before proceeding to Millikin University where he studied graphic design, graduating in 2006 with a BFA. After that, he went ahead to join Savannah College of Art & Design, graduating in 2008 with an MFA. It's from the same year that he started working with WILD APPLE, an art licensing and publishing agency, as an art director and artist. While working with the company, he oversaw artistic arts sold as wall arts and for the production of specific products.
Over the years, Mullan has worked with numerous high profile clients including Target, HOW Magazine, Diabetic Living, Hallmark, Walgreens, and American Greetings. He's so much into American history, featuring some of them in his own art. Mullan’s works are however not limited to American history alone as he covers a number of other topics. At the same time, his wide travels in different countries have made it possible for him to expand his artistic understanding. He's been to different locations in the U.S., Honduras, Canada, Ireland, Mexico, and the U.K.
Mullan’s creative works have been featured in a number of magazines and publications like Typography Served, America Illustration, Creative Lettering 2, 3x3, and Illustrious. Moreover, his art have been used to make diverse products and used as ads, books, and editorials.
His art are sold in their originals through GROOVYGRAVY, which he started recently. Through it, he sells limited edition and gallery standard art prints.
