Amy Dixon (Born in 1959) was born and raised in Monroe, Louisiana. She now lives in Denver with her 3 children. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Studio in Art & Painting from Newcomb College of Tulane University. Amy approaches painting much as she does her life... with free expression and intuitively. She says that anything is possible if the art spirit is right. From 1981 to 1982 she had her Post-graduate studies at Studio Arts Center International in Florence, Italy. Her personal journey challenges her to investigate harmony, laughter, fears, peace, chaos and stress of the day... to divulge and paint in response to this LIFE and all its complexities. A keen sense of what will work on canvas and direct observation of everyday life fuel her passion for revisiting old favorites as well as exploring fresh subjects.
Going back to the familiar laissez le bon temps rouler and her Louisiana roots...that is, let the good times roll on the canvas ...and she does it perfectly. Amy’s work is about immediacy, color and an instinctive response to the world around her. She draws inspiration from recognizing ideas that connect with the soul such as form, color, light, mood, conversation, music and dreams. She also gets her inspiration from paying attention to the moment. Along with her painting, she is also an author and two of her books have been published by Pelican Publishing Co. Amy’s art can be found in many corporate and private collections and galleries around the world.
