The serene, coastal landscapes of Albert Swayhoover blend a contemporary feel for color and light with a more traditional, impressionistic style. He manipulates his chosen medium of oil with palette knives, occasionally using a brush for the finer details. It is difficult to imagine that delicate beach grasses as well as fierce storm clouds are all achieved using quick strokes with the edge of a knife. He notes, "I can achieve painterly surfaces without the fussiness of brush strokes. Colors stay vibrant and shapes stay crisp."
