Frederick J. LeBlanc views himself as a photojournalistic storyteller. He has worked as a professional photojournalist for more than 25 years. His editorial and commercial images have appeared regularly in national and regional publications. LeBlanc’s enduring passion for wooden, classic sailing vessels has led him, over the 10 years, to document these historic sailing vessels as they sail in harmony with the sea and wind. The artist uses his fine art prints to bring to the public a greater appreciation and awareness of the heritage of our maritime. Photographing in both digitally captured images and traditional film, he creates giclée prints in black-and-white, sepia, color, and photo impressions on watercolor papers with archival pigment inks. This lets the subject determine which technique should be applied to get the best image.

His current projects include documenting the annual Gloucester schooner Race, the Maine windjammer fleet, as well as various classic sailing events and regattas and tall ship. His award-winning photographs have been exhibited in juried art shows, galleries, libraries, and museums. They have been published on postcards, posters, calendars and most recently as a book. As a way of giving back to his profession LeBlanc teaches the art of digital photography. In his print studio in South Hadley, Massachusetts, he works with clients to improve their artistic and technical photographic skills during photo tours, photo cruises and workshops. His current photographic projects include publishing a visual journal documenting the natural wonders of the New England landscape and Maine’s historic windjammer fleet.
